Eligibility Requirements for a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS)
What are the minimum requirements for testing?
The applicant must hold a current and valid reciprocal level LAC, CAC or RAC with the ADRA or another practice credential with the added ADC or AADC credential through LASACT CEB.
Has successfully completed and able to show documentation of 10,000 hours of Addiction Counseling experience.
4,000 hours of which must be in a supervisory position to individuals working in Addiction Counseling field. 200 hours of face-to-face clinical supervision is required of which up to 100 hours may be preformed electronically in real time.
30 hours of education specific to the first five clinical supervision domains with a minimum of four hours in each domain.

The ADRA shall issue a CCS credential to each candidate who meets the following minimum standards:
Is at least 21 years of age
Possess and maintain a current LAC, CAC, RAC, or other LMHP credential with addiction specialty add-on
Is a legal resident of the United States
Is not in violation of any ethical standard subscribed to by the ADRA or any other board
Has not been a substance abuser or compulsive gambler for at least 2 years prior to the application date
Has not been convicted of a felony (see Felony Waiver Policy)
Document the completion of 90 clock hours of education:
a. 60 clock hours - Substance Use Disorders/Addiction (alcohol and other drugs) specific education
b. 30 clock hours – Specific to the supervision domains
Document the completion of 10,000 hours of work experience in substance use disorder treatment:
a. Inclusive of 4,000 hours of work experience in a supervisory position
Obtain a passing score on the IC&RC Clinical Supervision Exam
