Responsible Vendor
Program
In 1997, the Louisiana Legislature passed the Responsible Vendor
Program for the purposes and goals listed below.
1. To educate vendors and their employees about selling, serving,
and consuming alcoholic
beverages in a responsible manner and selling
and serving tobacco products;
2. To engage vendors, servers, and consumers in promoting responsible
use of beverage
alcohol;
3. To prevent the misuse, illegal use, and abuse of beverage alcohol
and illegal use and sale of
tobacco.
Each person who sells or serves alcohol and tobacco must successfully
complete a state approved training course conducted by a state approved
trainer.
About LASACT As An Approved Training Provider
The Louisiana Association of Substance Abuse Counselors and Trainers
(LASACT) is approved to provide education for the Responsible Vendor
Program. Because the Association has a membership base throughout
Louisiana and experience in providing professional educational programs
for over 20 years, LASACT has the background and resources to become
the premier provider of Responsible Vendor Education in the State.
The fee for participating in the Program is $25 per person. Registration begins
thirty minutes before the sessions. Anyone who arrives more than
15 minutes after the program begins cannot receive credit for that
session. This is a requirement of the State Law.
Business owners/managers who would like to schedule a Program for
their employees may contact the LASACT office as noted below. Training
can be conducted at the place of business for groups of five or
