Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor
(AADC) Certification

This IC&RC reciprocal Advanced Credential, which upgrades and standardizes qualifications of those working in the field of alcohol and drug abuse counseling, has been offered  by LASACT since 2001.

The credential is available to any counselor who meets the requirements, which include:
1. Current and valid Licensed Addiction Counselor Credential issued by the Addictive
     Disorders Regulatory  Authority.;
2.  Master's Degree in a human services field;
3. Two thousand (2,000) hours of supervised AODA-specific work experience;
4. One hundred eighty (180) hours of AODA-specific training;
5. A written IC&RC/AODA exam.

AADC credentialing guidelines have been developed by LASACT/CEB in conjunction with the IC&RC, and an explanation of them is included in the Inquiry Packet, which can be downloaded from this site (in PDF format) by clicking here: Inquiry Packet.

Interested persons should first read the Inquiry Packet to get a clearer picture of this credential's standards and requirements. Those interested in pursuing an application and submitting a portfolio after reading the Inquiry Packet should submit the Application for Portfolio Packet Form (PDF format) to the LASACT office at the address below.

Please note that certification as an AADC is NOT to be construed as authorization to practice in the State of Louisiana. The AADC is an "Add-on" to the LAC Credential.

All AADC's are eligible to apply for the IC&RC International Advanced Certificate. Download application form here.

PDF files require the use of Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is a free download from:
