Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor(AADC) Certification

This IC&RC reciprocal Advanced Credential, which upgrades and standardizes qualifications of those working in the field of alcohol and drug abuse counseling has been offered by LASACT since 2001.

Thus certificate is available to any counselor who meets the requirements, which include:

  1. Current and valid Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) Credential issued by the Addictive Disorder Regulatory Authority (ADRA) or a practice credential from some other professional credentialing board (i.e., LPC, LMFT, etc.)
  2. Master's Degree in a human services field
  3. Two thousand (2,000) hours of supervised work experience specific to Alcohol and Drug Counseling (ADC)
  4. One hundred eighty (180) hours of training specific to ADC
  5. A written IC&RC/ADC exam. Those who have taken the advanced LAC exam within the last five years may have the exam waived by presenting a copy of their test results with their portfolio.

Interested persons should submit the completed AADC Portfolio Packet to the LASACT office.

AADC certification should not to be construed as authorization to practice in the State of Louisiana. The AADC is an "Add-on" to the LAC or other professional credential.

Recertification Information

AADC recertification is required every two years. LASACT sends written notification 90 days in advance of the recertification date.
